Perth Bears confirmed in July 2026 that Gehamat Shibasaki, a 2025 NRL premiership winner, had signed to join the club for its inaugural 2027 season. He departs the Broncos, with Fox Sports reporting on 27 August that he was among players leaving after the club's release. Shibasaki has since spoken publicly about his exit from Brisbane.
