Wide World of Sports reported on 17 September that Sam Walker paused negotiations with the Roosters before his round 25 ankle injury. That comes after news.com.au noted on 17 August his contract was expiring and he had not committed to the club, with multiple clubs including PNG's Chiefs and the Broncos linked to him. A gap of about $1 million between his camp and the Roosters was reported on 15 August.
