Inside Canberra
Three premierships, all last century.
Canberra's season ended in round 25, which is not how the decade has gone: five finals trips in ten years and the sixth-best win rate in the league over that stretch. The titles are older, three between 1989 and 1994 and none since, and the club has spent the years since as the competition's regional constant, running its own venues in a town whose ageing stadium it keeps asking somebody to replace, per the Canberra Times. The last few seasons have been about holding the roster. Josh Papalii retired the most-capped Raider at 341 games, Morgan Smithies and Corey Horsburgh both took Perth deals, and Hudson Young's camp is weighing a club-record $3.3 million over three years against whatever PNG are about to offer, the Canberra Times reports. Ricky Stuart, signed through 2029, has outlasted the lot of them.
