Inside Penrith
Four straight titles, succession already booked.
Penrith led the rating in late August at 16 and 6, two seasons after the four straight premierships of 2021 to 2024 ended. The longer history is ordinary, tenth all-time, and that is rather the point: the modern club is a member-owned production system, second for win rate over the decade and first over three years, built on $3.49 million of pathways spend in 2025, per the accounts, and a junior base that supplied 99 of the 113 players in this year's junior representative squads. The next era is already scheduled, Ivan Cleary stepping down after 2027 with Peter Wallace named to follow, PerthNow reported in May. The market is doing what it does to champions: Brian To'o signed with PNG for 2028, Scott Sorensen and Liam Henry took Perth deals, and Liam Martin has set a deadline of $1 million a season or the open market, per Fox Sports. Nathan Cleary is off contract at the end of 2027. Everyone has noticed.
