Multiple outlets, including The Australian and news.com.au, report Burton has been repeatedly linked with the incoming Perth Bears. The Sydney Morning Herald noted on 24 August that he is prepared to sacrifice $100k a year, and that the Bears and coach Mal Meninga were fined $40,000 for breaching anti-tampering rules over him. Nothing is agreed.
